Shaded and Lightening are a pair of pitch black nadders with ghostly white eyes and black white tipped spines. It is near impossible to see the rest of their markings (which they do have) against this pitch darkness. (Shaded does have light grey scales around their nose, and Lightening has a slight blue tint to their claws and eyes ) These dragons were guarded to watch over Berk during the night, since they blended in with it so well, and were often barely seen flying against the night sky to and from the Sentry perches.

Upon wishing to seek companions they have been retired from this duty, but still work fiercely together to keep their home safe. They do not wish to be separated, seeing each other as a Brother, and want to go to a home where they can watch a different night sky and protect their Rider's home.
